Mission:
The mission of The Kristi Schoepfer Award for Service-Learning is to recognize a collaborative
educational team or individual who conducts a service-learning project that is inspired by the character,courage, and commitment of Kristi Schoepfer. This award will offer a SRLA member the opportunity to engage in a service-learning project that advances the mission of the organization while engaging students in a community-oriented project related to the legal aspects of sport, recreation, and/ or physical activity.
Goals
- Honor Kristi and her commitment to the value of generosity, inclusion, and service.
- Provide opportunities to SRLA members to fund a service-learning project involving student
participant that also requires financial support to complete such project. - Outreach to new members
- Encourage community outreach
- Encourage student development
Criteria
- Service-learning project related to the legal aspects of sport, recreation, and/ or physical activity involving student participants.
- Minimum of one year of membership by the applicant
- Winner of the award will conduct project and present the service-learning project in the following year.
- Alignment with the mission of SRLA
How to Apply:
Applicants self-nominate by submitting a 2-5 page proposal to the Honors & Awards Committee Chair that includes a summary of the intended service learning project, budget, budget justification, and timeline for the project.
